Slappy Slappy and more groups!
Hello :)
So I am now lying in my new bed in Camp Manyara.... I can hear the other groups making a right racket, we have just been attacked my midges and I now have a comfy bed :)
Yesterday we transferred from Ndarakwai on two coaches... I was at the front and enjoyed great views as we travelled across Tanzania some more. We arrived in Manyara and immediately the landscape was different. There is a huge cliff edge hanging over the lake and this leads to the Ngorongoro National Park. Camp is huge... there is a large eating area surrounded by tents. In total there are about 6 groups here and don't we know it. This is a large scale camp and very different to the secluded tranquility we have been treated to in other camps :) Once we had arrived and settled in we enjoyed a peaceful afternoon and enjoyed chatting to other groups by the fire.
The camp staff here are all from Kenya. Again they remembered me and it is great to see so many familiar faces!
Today we started our project work here. We walked for around 40 mins to small village with a primary school where we were welcomed by the children and staff who sang the national anthem and a their school song for us. We then had time to meet the children and as always I started to sing with them. It didn't take long for a small crowd to gather and join in with my old favorites Ke Ke Ku Le and Cum a la vista. It was another great moment on my trip :)
We then cracked on with our grafting. Some of us were painting the school, some of us were plastering the outside wall and others were making paths in the school grounds. I was with the plastering team and enjoyed Slappy Slappying again :)
It was hard graft in the sun but in the end we actually got loads done! I also helped the path team out for a bit and this was a great project as we could finish it and see the end result. Tomorrow we will be back at the school to so some more :)
Tonight I eventually got showered after sorting out a very serious incident in our camp, I can't write about it in here. Then I chilled by the camp fire chatting to lots of different people including Rach who is a leader but also works for Camps UK full time. She told me all about other camps trips including Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands, my teachers also requested me for next time too :)
At about 7pm the midges arrived so we all got covered up and waited for tea. The food here is ok but not great.
Time for bed now anyway... Long day of project again tomorrow :)
Night x
Ps... I have had another Major incident to deal with today. I can't even write about it in here it is that serious but it's all sorted now. Let's just say I have just about had every eventuality thrown at me during this trip!
