Safari and Painting!
Hello :)
What a day! I have just had a warm shower and dived into my tent away from the midges to have some chill time before dinner.
Today we have been on our first Safari day! We set off after breakfast heading for Lake Manyara National Park.... After a short drive we arrived and entered the park through the bush. We saw lots of Monkeys and Baboons jumping around in the trees and a whole selection of birds... We were traveling in Safari Jeeps with 7 people in each, one of the ones where the roof lifts up and you all stand on your seat to see out. I managed to get in with 6 really nice kids, no attitude, no drama, just nice kids :) Once we got through the bush we hit the lake... it was massive! This was when the animals started to come out. So... In order of appearance here is what we saw....Monkey, Zebra, White stalk, Flamingo, King fisher, Pelicans, Baboons, Impala, Warthog, Buffalo, Ground hornbill, Giraffe, Hippo, Wildebeest, Ostrich, Butterfly and finally Elephants :)
It was a great day and lots of fun! We also stopped off at a small supermarket so we stocked up with snacks... I ate a full box of Pringles...and changed some money.
When we got back to camp I decided to have a go at painting. Basically there are loads of market stalls selling similar paintings of animals or Masai tribe people. The artist at our camp though will let you do your own for 10,000TSH, about £3.20. So far I have only done my background and will attempt the rest tomorrow :)
Today it is Emma (a teacher) and one of the lads birthdays. I'm just about to go and have tea and then play the good old cereal box and coin funnel game.
Exciting times! More safari tomorrow at Ngorongoro National Park!
Have fun!
