Greek Odyssey
Alan: So it's Friday and we have reached the last day of this (comfortable, self-catering apartment) segment of our trip. Tomorrow we leave (at 4.30 in the morning again) for the airport, then Athens and onward by bus and ferry to Andros. We’ve had a great time here, the weather has been kind (apart from the last two days which were cloudy with even a bit of rain) and we have had fun seeing some very different birds and slagging off the bird photographers for their uncultured behaviour. The ouzo, brandy and beer have all run out, must be time to leave.
Deb: well, I was singing in the car along with some tunes, and when "Homeward Bound" came on, I substituted a few words “I’m glad I’m not.......Homeward bound”! Next stop Athens/Rafina port/Andros tomorrow – bring it on. We had lunch in a taverna that is clearly mainly used by locals but was rather overwhelmed by tourists (as it was the only place open). The waitress was running everywhere, very stressed. When she brought the plates out,she looked at one of them, realised there was a mark on it – and so cleaned it by rubbing her hand around the plate and then shrugging! Then gave it to me........when in Greece...By the way, Alan forgot to mention “Retsina” in the above list of drinks –but it’s about to run out! Packing has begun – pass me an ouzo!
