Dean and Claire's t'internet travel journal
Hi all,
Well, we have just got back from white water rafting, which was one of the most amazing experiences ever! Picture this: racing down the river on a big dingy, flying off rocks and down rapids, maneuvering your body to avoid capsizing, clinging desperately to the side of the boat to avoid falling in...it was great. I'd definitely do it again!
The whole day was very well organised and great fun. There were about 22 of us in all, split into teams of 5 or 6, and all the groups were racing and splashing one another as we went along. At the end of the river our leader played a game with involves spinning the dingy around, rodeo style, until you all fall into the river. This was all good, but the water in which we landed was very shallow and I managed to scrape my back and my elbow, which was quite painful, and I did the girly bit of 'woe is me' for a while...got me some sympathy anyway.
Yesterday we did a Thai massage course, which was really good, except that Thai massage involves maneuvering your clients body into all sorts of weird positions, and practically lifting them off the floor at times. This was all well for Dean, practicing on me, but when we switched roles...
hmm, what else have we been up to? We've seen a couple of local temples, as you do, and we've also been to a talk given by a western monk about Budhism...as you do. Tomorrow we are planning to head off to Chiang Rai, then it's off to Laos!
Speak to you all soon,
Claire x
