So we're in Kunming...and we're also stuck in Kunming for the next seven days. Joy. We arrived here yesterday, hoping to head to Chengdu in the next few days. No such luck. all the trains are booked out til the 8th, meaning it would be too late to get to Bejing for our flight on the 14th.... So we tried to book a train ticket to Bejing, but they're all full til the 11th, meaning we wouldn't get into Bejing til the 13th and there would be no time for great wall visits and shopping expiditions....and we couldn't have that. So, we booked a flight. It set us back 80 pounds each (There goes my money for shoes...) Also not impressed as now we don't get to see the Pandas in Chengdu. Apparently they have them here in Kunming, but they're in the Zoo so it won't quite be the same! So, as it stands, we're stuck here til the 8th of August. We've been desperately scouring the Lonely Planet for places to visit, but i have a feeling that this will include one too many visits to the cheap DVD store...we already went back and bought another thirthy discs between us. We're addicted! Well, I guess there is nothing else for us to do but drink the cheap alcohol... hope i'll have some exciting stories to tell soon...just hope they don't all involve trips to the DVD shop.... Claire x
