Tams World Tour
Have now arrived in Penang after spending a wicked few days in Krabi.....
Krabi was so beautiful. We were staying in Au Nang which was quite touristy but really nice. We caught narrow boats over to Railay and spent some time there - one of the most expensive places to stay in Thailand, it was great! - we only stayed for lunch though! I tried some bbq Shark that night which was a first for me - quite liked it! Then spent the next day doing some Island hopping and snorkelling, visited Phi - Phi, Chicken Island, Monkey Island (I think I saw Craig there?) and saw a Pirate Cave. The scenery was so amazing. We also saw loads of dolphins on the way back which was cool. Our guide was telling us about how the Tsunami had a massive impact here as many of the Europeans came down to the beach to take pictures and couldnt get away, it was really sad and so difficult to imagine how such a beautiful place could have been a scene of so much devastation. However our guide thanked us all for coming to visit as it has been the tourists who have visited since and the money donated which has allowed them to rebuild so much.
The next day went Kayaking which I think has been my best day so far! Kayaked through a Canyon for about 4 hours and stopped to eat fresh pineapple on a little Island - THIS IS THE LIFE! Saw the caves where Sea Gypsies live - I felt very at home!
Went out for some 'cheap cheap' meals of local food- our guide Pong is great for showing us local places so that has been really good, I have eaten so much rice its untrue and the food is quite spicy but so tasty. So much is geared up for tourists that is difficult to see the real Thailand on the tour I am doing.
Since Krabi we travelled to Satun about an hour from the Thai - Malaysian border and spent the night there. Bit of a brits on tour night as everyone was watching the footie and doing Karaoke! Satun is a bit of a dive though so it was nice to have a cheap fun night out.
Am now in Malaysia and staying in Penang. Yesterday we took the train up to Penang Hill and checked out the views and a Hindu Temple. I am just on a bit of a wander round the city now and about to head to the beach - our last beach day of the tour before we make our way to Kuala Lumpur and then Singapore. Photos next time I promise!
