Wow!!! What an amazing few weeks!!!!
Zoe's house party was good! So was London the weekend after! But I'm afraid this blog is going to focused on Leeds!!!
It was amazing!!!!! It was my first proper camping festival and I loved it!
The bands were great, the atmosphere was great, the food was.... Ok :-)
There was a few c*** ups, namely the saga that is now to be known as tentgate..... Basically, I borrowed at tent off my younger brother. I was told ( yes lee you did tell me!) it would fit 3 people in there. Which it did. Just not 3 people and their bags...
But anyway, I'm getting ahead of myself. So first of all we had to relocate a couple of times due to health and safety. Finally found a place and then me and Sam pitched the tent while Zoe supervised.... :-p. So, the tent is up, only for us to realise one of the door zips is broken. The outer waterproof door. But hey, Friday was sunny and bright, it didnt matter.... Fast forward 6 hours to pouring rain and bitter coldness... Got back to the tent and everything was soaked! Not just through the semi door, but through the roof, because at the time we didn't think we had one (a roof that is...I found it the next day though). So there we are, trying to sleep in the cold and wet mini tent. Sams laying in the damp patch, Zoe in the middle and me on the side next to all the bags. It was like a bad game of tetris. And all through the night we were woken up by annoying neighbours, one lot particularly from 4am til 6am... Oh they were lucky to make it out there alive! So Zoe and I, completely miserable, decided to get up at 6 and let Sam stretch out and sleep a bit longer... The annoying young neighbours soon moved after me and Zoe shot them many lethal daggers. At that point, we were ready to call it a day and go home. But as the day went on we saw some more amazing bands and had a great time, in between us all taking turns for naps.
So that's tentgate.... Thank god I can laugh about it now!
Next to mention is the festival goers. There was some lovely people there, I met up with an old friend from work, and her friends seemed lovely. I had another friend around somewhere, but he was more elusive. The other people, 80% of them were.... Prats. That's the best word I can use without swearing. (Don't want nana mafia slapping my legs!) I know that festivals are busy and mud and trodden toes are to be expected. But some manners wouldn't have hurt. Tall guys were pushing in front of us so we couldn't see. Zoe is about 5ft 1 and I'm 5ft3 ish, we aren't that tall. Then, people were starting mosh pits next to us, really I don't see the point, especially to Bombay bicycle club! So i sent a few elbows and knees their way. Then there was the people who had no concept of personal space. During one band this... Girl... Kept banging into me and Zoe, several times! So we did what anyone else would do, we pushed her back. She got an attitude and decided to bump me even more. Now, those who know me, know I'm not a violent person...... ;-p so when the guitarist asked us all to jump around I did so... On the annoying girls foot. She left us alone after that.
Other things to mention about the festival goers; why on earth do the young girls, and I mean some as young as 14 I'm sure, feel the need to flash the cameras? I saw enough bras and boobs to last me a lifetime. And don't get my started on the shorts (horts) that showed more cheek than a thong. Am I just getting old??? But why? Some of the girls were bigger than me and had a lot more cellulite... Personally I cover up things like that.
They have been so misinformed, they think it's attractive and that's how to get guys attention... At the risk of sounding like my dad, it's the wrong kind of attention! That's how you get teenage parents with 3 kids claiming of the government! Why should I pay for that? Ok, another tangent that can be save for another day.
Ok, finally. The bands. O M G!!!! AMAZING!!!!!!!!!! The foo fighters. Unbelievable, the best show i have ever seen!!! Dave grohl is a legend. He owned the crowd. And it was a huge crowd. He did try to look for me but I was surrounded by other people so he couldn't declare his love, as he couldn't see me. Next time dave, next time...
For me, the foos made the whole weekend worth it. Followed by the Maccabees. They were awesome too and so was paramore. It feels so surreal that I saw these bands! Also we saw you me at six (not so great unfortunately) bombay bicycle club, the hives, a bit of the kaiser chiefs, king charles and the skints. The latter two I had never heard of, only through Sam and Zoe. But they were good. We actually got to meet the skints in the VIP area. ( our tickets weren't backstage unfortunately but we did have VIP toilets and showers so never mind)
Anyway, I say we met the skints. Actually, (me being embarrassing and without etiquette sometimes) I grabbed the band and asked them to pose for pictures, twice. Zoe and Sam were embarrassed but thankful.... It wouldnt have been done otherwise! I just wish we couldve met the foos there... Actually, its probably better we didn't, I'd end up with a restraining order against me or something.
In a nutshell that was Leeds. It was great, amazing and I would do it again!
I did spend the day after Leeds at home in doncaster with the famiy and friends which was nice. Went to the pub with two of my brothers, lee and Jason, and met Robyn and Klee there. It was good, I don't see them all enough.
Anyway. I'm currently on holiday in spain writing this, soaking up the rays and enjoying the relaxation. I will write another blog for spain. Otherwise this one would go on for hours... Even though it already feels like it has....
Adios!!!! Xxx
