....and guess where Blob is ????....Well from Chiang Mai we zoomed up to Chiang Rai and met a really nice couple on the bus.Eli and Claire were from NZ originally but had been living in Sydney for a while and were on a world trip till ....whenever?...They will be coming to the UK next christmas ish time so we will see just how much they liked us...if they show up or not?.I think they will.We kind of adopted each other and although we stayed in seperate hotels we spent a lot of time together. We also showed them how to play "s***head".A must for anyone on the travelling circuit. The first night we went to the night market where we had some fab food and a few beers in the reggae bar .Extremely colourful bar that really should be picked up and dropped in Gill with all the customers too.We left them all to it but I think they were going to see the sun up , that was for sure. The following day we went exploring and found the TAT office (Tourist info) ...well Rob moved in DIED AND WENT TO HEAVEN !!!!! She was so gorgeous and shy and giggly and if you ask him about her today...he glazes overI think she's another one he's snuck in his bag (along with Jens elephant) I forgot to mention that Eli had left his bag containing EVERYTHING in the Reggae bar.....and when we eventually woke someone up , it was all intact.
We found the train library...not very exciting but glad I got close. We came back through the red light area ...our hotel/motel was init so that wasnt too hard and after an early dinner the kiwis hit the sack ....and we hit the reggae bar .The next morning we went on Eli tours to the White Temple and for those who are truly bored with our temple photos.....if you only look at a few make sure its these. I will put them on FB.Kind of Temple meets Dali meets Disney. Its still under construction but it definitely has the wow factor and there is a mural inside with our favourite superhero Davey Lew in it !!!Completely bizarre but worth the 40 baht we had to pay to get there and back .We called in at the Hilltribe museum on the way back to prep up for our journey into the hills to stay with the Akha Hill tribe.
We left at 4 in the back of a truck and made our way up into the hills.Eli tours opted for basic accomodation and we paid a little more and it wasnt too bad.We decided the following day that I would be going on the trek !!!!!!!!! God help me and god help everyone else !!! Well what fun.I had Alex pulling me up at the front and Canadian Cory was on butt pushing duty.Luckily his services were only required to catch my arm as I had a near miss with a very thin ledge. I think I did pretty well......well until th last couple of hours by which time it was about 35 degrees and I was up to my neck in jungle ,climbing a mountain without clampons !!! Ok slight exaggeration but hey....this IS MY BLOG after all. Hyperventilating all the way ...I was first home.I think when Ashun told me it was about 15 minutes away from camp, I gave Ussein Bolt a run for his money!!!!!
The next day we took the truck back to town and waved goodbye to our new friends and headed off on a bus to Phitsanoluk.Back soon........
