We left Phimai sadly on a bus to Pak Chong which should have been a small town on the outskirts of Thailands biggest national park Khaoyai......and our resort hotel would be there.....not a hope ...Agoda had messed up again.Pak Chong is actually a large city and also a province.We again found ourselves dumped by the bus 30km from our hotel and no public transport.So after grabbing a very helpful taxi driver and forking out a huge taxi fare(no option)we arrived at...

Well we were picked up by Wick and driven to the temples at Phanom Rung and ....???? another place that escapes me at the mo and we stopped and had a fab lunch of 2 pad thais 2 waters and a coffee 89 baht...abso bargain at less than £2..He owns the guest house we would stay in that night P.California in Nong Rang..nothing much there but his english was great and whilst he drove us he told us all about West Kensington , where he had lived and worked for three yea...

It was a long bus ride to Nong Khai not because of the distance but because of the crappy old bus and the route on the final leg but we finally arrived at Mut Mee guest house.Julian ,the english owner from Cheltenham had been there for 20 years and it was a beautiful little set up on the Mekong , in beautiful gardens and our room was fab.The food was also very good and most of the staff had been there for over 15 years and it was very clean and tidy.It just lacke...

So Phitsanulok......another large city.We stayed at the Princess Green which was very friendly but the language barrier is getting kind of testing at times.We wanted to go and watch the footie and there were no shortage of tvs showing it but FLIES !!! mossies and others MILLIONS AND MILLIONS of them and it was face fulls.So we found ourselves down by the river with a line of bars all showing the same game...all selling beer very cheaply...all had very few lights ...

Hi I'm back !! Blob has disappeared into the jungle for a 12 hour trek .Sherpa Setch may now be my middle name but NO Plus my back has kinda gone :(( Its getting better but poor old Blob has had to carry my bag as well as hisfor about 4 days now.I have a major catch up to do.It appears we have been battling with Songkran (Thai new year /xmas....aka MAJOR HOLIDAY time) and height of summer ...so too hot and people here close and clear off on hols cos there are NO ...
