It's our second day in Dubai and I just realised that I deleted yesterday's post without saving it, so here are the cliff notes:
Arrived 10am Dubai time, airport is massive and full of water features (I have since realised they love a good water feature here, there's water spurting out of pretty much everything). They had porcelain toilets in the ground at airport, but fortunately after spending some time thinking how I was going to balance my bag under my chin and tackle that particular manoeuvre I spotted a regular toilet, phew! I may not be so lucky in Cambodia though...
Hotel is amazing - its in Festival City which is like a Disney world version of Venice (see pic). We have a huge pool and terrace area on the fifth floor looking out over the city (will post pic later). One of the pools has a glass end which hangs out over the marina below very cool.
The staff everywhere are so helpful, but to the point where I'm scared of doing anything for myself - when we went for dinner the waiter nearly had a panic attack when I tried to serve my own salad and earlier one of the hotel staff practically rugby tackled me when I tried to unroll a towel on the sun lounger myself, he dived in and spent 2 mins tucking it all in while I stood there like a plum! Ive had to tell Robin off for topping up my glass of water incase someone wanted to do it for me!
Anyway, day one very hot, and very relaxing, I could get used to this...
