We are knackered after a day spent in the searing heat looking round the Forbidden City...very impressive. Now we are chilling at the hostel before heading out to drink copious amounts of beer for 80p each! Tim is loving his super short hair and I am soo jealous, I am almost tempted to cut all mine off too! Sam and I are having traditional Chinese dresses made for us, which hopefully will be ready for my birthday on sat...we are going to a bar called The World of Suzi Wong, named after a famous prostitute where we get to "lounge on plump silk cushions sipping sexy cocktails whilst admiring the decadent surroundings and Beijing's beautiful people"! Could be a little too cool for us skanky travellers though!!
Its really surreal here, we feel like famous folk, today as we walked through Tianamen Square, we were stopped dozens of times by people wanting their photo taken with us, especially Sam because of her blonde curly locks. I could definately get used to being a celebrity! XX
PS Michelle, it IS killing me not opening my present!! Arghh!!

Debs and Tim...Love the pics of Mongolia..Just looks like amazing.Must say though am very disappointed that you have not combed Trols hair.....Of course it will be matted and having dread locks if you dont wash it.Just some mild shampoo will work to untangle the mop.Tut tut....needed to give you instructions on how to look after a trol!!!! Hi. Sam here! Reporting from Beijing. Arrived safely despite getting a dubious taxi driver from the airport who tried to extort money from me-luckily debbie and tim came racing to my rescue and terrified the poor man into submission. Happy to report Debs and Tim are doing very well, nice and brown and looking like seasoned travellers. Beijing is very cool, have mainly been pottering about eating and shopping. Have some crazy food here; we were admiring some tiny scoprions skewered onto a kebab considering whether they were just too weird to try when they started wriggling their legs madly! Poor things were still alive! Not sure if they were begging for help or just enjoying shocking the tourists. Hopefully off to walk the Great Wall tomorrow so I'm sure Tim will put up lots of lovely pics soon. P.S I'm delighted to say that Troll is just as charming in the flesh as in his pictures - and also disarmingly attractive (he is however, in danger of developing a massive dreadlock.) xx
