Tessa here. Today started in the best way and just got better. My alarm was set for 5:55 but it took until 5:59 for me to wake up, work my way out of my woolly hat and start my day of Lions. Five of us headed out for a Lion walk, this is a opportunity for the lions to become more acclimatised to the bush and gain confidence in the wild before they start hunting, once ready they are then released for breeding. We were walking with two lions cubs of 13 and 18 months. Both were very playful and immediately started 'hunting' each other. We had a few photo shots before heading back to camp. It was a humbling experience to hang out with the big cats and my favourite times were when the lions could run free rather than when the handlers were trying to manipulate them into position for photos.
Later in the morning Vikki and I went to play with with younger cubs; Pendle and Sxxx who were 10 weeks old. They were very cute and it took a great deal of restraint not to pack them in our bag and bring them home.
The day was topped off with real coffee and delicious carrot cake.
