Cracking night sleep cozied up under a sheet, fluffy blanket and duvet!
Ready to get up and go to the next stop though because there’s nothing here and it has a sort of waiting in the middle sort of stop (neither here or there).
We had a few stops along the way, one was to the pancake rocks along the shoreline, that was pretty cool. They’re 35 million old limestone rocks that are layered in what looks like stacks of pancakes. Scientists don’t know why they look like that just that it’s limestone which is made up of dead animals. The weather was good today so the blow holes weren’t going because the sea swell was low.
We got to the hotel, the lake mahinapua hotel which had been going since 1901. In the middle of nowhere on the side of a main highway, it’s a bar aswell and done up with hot tubs in the back garden and we got to make our own lucky greenstone pendants by sanding them down and making shapes with them, your supposed to gift them but I gifted mine to myself.
The price included dinner, stay and breakfast here tonight because there’s no communal kitchen and it was Pork roast dinner, delicious!
Then kiwi happy hour(s) and a fancy dress party, our theme was retro/flower power. It’s supposed to be an absolute cracking night with loads of you on the bus and everyone dressing up for the winner to get a free ticket to do the fox canyon swing in Queenstown.
Safe to say not many dressed up out of 16of us on the bus and not many came along to the party. Our group had a blast though and dressed up with make shift dress up we quickly bought on a budget in warehouse, Greymouth this morning.
Very drunk and lots of questionable dance moves, then we all got checked out at 12am because there weren’t enough of us to justify keeping the bar open. Had a good night though, my hair is going to be a b**** to comb out tomorrow, a hella lot of conditioner will be needed to get the knots out!
