Hey right I made my way on the train to Ameristar and had a 6 hour delay, which was funny asit was the first train I'd been on own.Waiting for 6 hours is quite boring I can tell you. The trains have been fun but not very clean, you end up washing everything every time you step off one.
Having arrived in Ameristar I quickly checked into a hotel and headed for straight the golden temple. Wow what a site, it sparkles in the sun. Apparently experts say it's covered in 750KG of gold. I'm not sure why but I always manage to time seeing these sites on the wrong day i.e. in the case, Dewali. It was packed I wouldn't move for people, I didn't stay long as I couldn't stand the queues plus id been told off by the guard for walking into a Sikh temple with nothing covering my head. Oops.
The same day I arranged to see the border parade that the Indian/Pakistan border guards put on every night. What a show. There are grandstands of people, on one side people shouting India and on the other Pakistan. It's really lively atmosphere and probably the closest I'll ever get to Pakistan. That night is something I will never forget.
Having done everything I wanted to do in Ameristar, I headed back to Delhi. It was obvious I needed a rest with all the trains and travelling we had done rushing around so I just chilled out in a nice hotel for a couple of days watching HBO. J
Whilst in Delhi I meet to English girls who are studying to be doctors and were on placement, we hung out the last day whilst I waited for my train and found a really posh of Delhi and saw a traditional Indian music concert.Although to me the music sounded more Middle Eastern than Indian. As we headed back in a tuktuk the road was blocked by loads of police, we hadn't got a clue what was going on. It turned out that President Obama was in town and his motorcade went flying past, which was a nice surprise lol.
The plan from Delhi was to head to Jalsamer to do a camel safari but I just couldn't find a train anywhere. It's been so in India with Dewali, everything became difficult. So I abandoned that idea and decided to make my way to Nepal. The usual route of going to Varanasi and heading north to Kathmandu or Pokara was no good as there were no trains at all. So I found a remote border on the western border of Nepal and headed there.
I'll leave this blog here as that now concludes Indian for now.
