Ciao!
Today is the 1st October 2015, and I am currently on the bus from Verona to Venice.
When we arrived in Verona, we crossed the river, passed the walls to the city, and walked through the centre of Verona to the Arena, a Roman amphitheatre older than the Colosseum. It was just as magnificent as I remember! We then walked to the Casa di Giulietta - Juliet's House - and saw the balcony. We also took photos with the statue of Juliet, and saw all the graffiti on the walls. We even witnessed a couple write their names on the wall! It was very cute, and a fitting tribute to Shakespeare's enduring tale of undying love. We then walked to Piazza delle Erbe, where we were given some free time. For lunch, I bought a peach ice tea and a Panzerotto Fritto con Mozzarella, Pomodoro e Prosciutto - a fried bread thing filled with mozzarella, tomato, and ham. It was yummy! We then wandered around the markets for some time before going to Venchi to buy some gelato. I had a medium cup with three flavours: cioccolato (chocolate), cioccolato bianco (white chocolate), and caffè (coffee). It was actually very tasty, and I do believe that this is the first time on this trip that I haven't ordered a fruit-flavoured gelato. I was a little unsure about ordering the coffee flavour at first, but it was definitely worth it as it was delicious! We then explored the streets for a little while before meeting the group in the Piazza. After our short time in the City of Love, we walked back past the Arena to the bus.
Verona was absolutely beautiful, and I wish we'd spent more time there, exploring the Arena and Juliet's House in more detail. However, it was definitely a treat to see Verona, and I really enjoyed seeing the atmosphere around Juliet's House and her balcony.
Right now, we are on our way to Venice. So, until next time, ciao!
