From Kanchanaburi,
We had picked up a motorcycle cart to take us to the bus station so we could find what the
fare was, and what time we had to be there the next day.
We had not been in a motorcycle cart before and decided to brave it.
Had never seen on in an accident, so must be fairly safe.
Get in and it sure seems like we are heavy on our side.
What fun
It of course is nothing new to the driver. But we both sit there with silly grins on
our faces, giggling. So uncool for two old people!
Next morning we walk out of the hotel there he sits. He knew we needed to be at bus
by 7am. He was going to start his day with a fare.
One very long and slow bus ride!
Bangkok is a huge city, these are some pics as we pass by
Roy says that these homes which I am thinking are the poor side of town, were so close they
don't have room to change their minds.
It does look like there cannot be much more than paths under these roofs.
Thought it was a VIP bus, they go pretty much straight thru , but no, it the next grade down bus
that stops at every town, bus stop and hand wave, that comes his way.
197 miles and 8 hours later, exhausted because we didn't sleep last night.
We get to a very nice hotel, and zonked out at 6:30 :)
Woke up at 6 am refreshed . Today, we are just taking it easy.
We have been on airplanes, trains, VIP buses, blue buses, orange buses, yellow buses ,
regular taxi, pickup taxis, motorcycle cart taxi and noooooooow, a motorcycle taxi!
We came today to explore a old town floating market. It is suppose to be some of the original
town buildings. It does look like it.
It is Avery unique market .
It is built on pillars, then a lake was added. Thousands of fish , that everyone buys food for
so the fish are always right at the rail begging for food.
The kids love it.
This market is really nice. it has covered bridges with chairs along the side so you can just
sit for a while and rest.
When your ready it goes to another part of this floating market.
It is all covered by a roof with breeze ways and shops on both sides . It quite large.
It also has several shops that are antique filled, no charge to look at.
An old general store with all the supplies , you can stand behind the counter for pictures.
This would be lovely at night, there are lights everywhere.
We are basically looking for something to eat and as in all markets there is suppose to be lots
of food.
we have decided that you can tell the size of you cafe food bill by the weight of your silverware.
if you pick up a large bit of food with your fork and it bends, you will have a great meal at a
very low price.
If , on the other hand the fork bends your wrist when you pick it up. with no food on it.
You will have a great meal with a great price tag on it!
Ended this day with another motorcycle ride back to the hotel.
Tomorrow we will check out bus fares, and time schedules to head for Trat.
From there we hope to take a ferry and go to a National park on an island.
