370kms

- NSW / QLD border for a photo opportunity
- Warwick for petrol, a pub lunch to celebrate Hub's birthday, and a trip to BigW to buy a doona and some odds and ends
Last night in Glen Innes was a less than average night's sleep for me. A nearby shop or house alarm went off at 1am, and kept going for ages. Seems I am the only one in our tent that it woke. Eventually it went off, but all the dogs in the neighbourhood were in full chorus for some time after.
I think I had just drifted back to sleep when a little voice (Ms9) was heard saying she needed the toilet - ah the joys of camping! Not long tucked back into bed, I heard the clock tower in the distance chime twice and then that damn alarm went off again. Somewhere in amongst it I got up to put on another jumper (it was a cool evening), and after tossing and turning for a while, I remember hearing the clock tower in the distance chime three times. I must have finally drifted back to sleep some time shortly after that. Then I heard another voice wanting the toilet (mr7). My phone told me we must have just missed hearing the clock tower chime five times by mere minutes. Ms3 stirred around 6am, and by half past I gave up and went digging for the coffee plunger.
The drive north along the New England, and then Cunningham Highways was uneventful, although in the middle of nowhere we came across a roadside random breath testing set up, and after more than 25 years of driving, hub was pulled over and breath tested for the first time ever...on his birthday!! (yes, of course he passed).
The trip over the Border Ranges and through Cunninghams Gap was picturesque, with mountains and rock outcrops popping up all over the place.
We successfully navigated the streets of inner Brisbane on the Friday afternoon of a long weekend, towing the camper trailer, and found our way to Newmarket Gardens where we will stay tonight and tomorrow night, before making a crack of dawn departure for the wild west on Sunday.
Tonight we have met up with 80% of the other family we will be travelling with. They came the coast road, and left a few days before us. The remaining 20% of their group flies up from Newcastle tomorrow to join them (and us).
It's 9pm, and I'll be hitting the sack very soon. I'm just hoping the bats that are making merry in the tree just up from us move on pronto!
