Hi everyone,

We are currently in Palolem which is south Goa. Although we originally departed the train near panaji which is north. we stayed near panaji (i forget the actual name!) for two nights and had a walk around and got settled. we went to quite a nice hotel with a guy called paul. lovely guy and Tom and Paul proceeded to get rather merry in the bar when we arrived! after having a rest we went for dinner which was more rice and noodles, we've yet to pluck up the courage to have a curry...Tom has been fine but i suffered a little from delhi belly a couple of days ago so im being a little more cautious now. that will teach me for wanting to try everything!!

after our two nights stay we felt a little more adventourous and decided to take the buses again to south goa. instead of paying around 1800 rupees for a taxi (about 15 quid) we managed to use 2 buses and a taxi and we made it all the way here for under 100rupees!! although the journey wasn't that nice with indians having little regard for personal space and i spent most the journey with an indian leaning over me, wishing id opted for the window seat :-(

south Goa is less crazy with no taxi horns beeping every second and long idyllic beaches. much more my scene as the less tourists equals less hassling from touts. where we are staying is only 500 rupees compared with the 2000 we payed in delhi but its a bit shabby and no tv :-( we have spent the last few nights staying in with a couple of films after dinner and early nights due to all the travelling about. tonight we may venture out and have a look around for a change. although i think we will probably wait till we go to thailand before we let our hair down and have a few drinks.
