So after my action packed first week in Sydney it was time to start trying to settle in, find a job and find an apartment so I could FINALLY stop living out of a bag - ive never been so happy to see my clothes hanging up in a wardrobe on hangers....ah simple things please simple minds they say! Me and Nicki left the beach suburb of Coogee for the big bright lights of the city and checked in at Wake Up hostel, which is supposedley the best hostel in Australasia. It was absolutely huuuuge and so much different to our family style hostel we had been in :-( So off we went and checked out a couple of apartments without much luck, until at 7.30pm we headed to Bondi beach and found our new home yay! We couldnt move in until the Sunday so sadly had to stay in the city for longer but gave me time to job hunt and sort my life out!
Well the very next day I had a job interview for Aussie Farmers, a company who are basically trying to bring back the milkman and get people buying Australian produce. It all seemed like a great opportunity that would be simple enough...but OH NO NO NO!!!! I got the job and after a few days of training was set out on the streets doing door-to-door sales. Even with a cute little old man inviting me in for cup of tea and biscuits the day was not good at all. As mum may know from my texts to her during the hellish period, I had doors slammed in my face, I was on my own all day, it was chucking it down with rain, I lost half my leg in a massive puddle, the perfect sales opportunity slipping through my fingers when a house full of kids had the firemen turn up and out they come spluttering from the front door, and then I stood on the streets crying!!!! Needless to say I did not go back for another day.
Back on the job hunt again and I managed to get 4 days working in a call centre, ringing shareholders of a company and reminding them of a meeting and voting deadline. All pretty simple, read off a computer screen the information as quickly as possible before they could hang the phone up. All done and dusted I thought until a few days later my voice decided to disappear and I was a croaky-joe! Whenever I spoke it was like I was a 13 year old boy and my voice was starting to break!!! Now though I am all sorted with a job yay! Managed to get a months work on reception at the BBC Worldwide offices. Their actual words were 'it doesn't get very busy so you can go on facebook and that all day if you want'. Pretty cushy if you ask me! Well I have a couple of weeks left and then just over a week before we are doing a 9 day road trip from Sydney - Melbourne - Adelaide via the Great Ocean Road.
So what else have I been up to.....hmmmm. Well I have been partying hard at The Gaff (my favourite nightclub/dive), Star Bar, Side Bar and taking lots of nightime pics of Darling Harbour, The Opera House, Harbour Bridge. Also did the Bondi to Coogee Coastal walk which is one of the pretiest and most popular walks in Sydney via Tamarama, Bronte, Clovelly Beaches and Gordons Bay. Was so relaxing after a bit of a hangover, couldnt imagine anything better to relieve a banging headache. Maybe i'll have to move closer to the beach once im home!!! Last weekend we headed to Paddington Markets where there is gorgeous jewellry, art work and gifts and then I had a random night out with my friend Claire from OZintro. We just nipped out for a catch up and a few drinks and the night ended with me being woken up by the bus driver and a random as I'd fallen asleep!!! haha im so classy :-) To end the weekend me, Michelle and Nicki headed out on a gloriously sunny day to the Opera House, Harbour Bridge and the Royal Botanical Gardens. Just as we got to Lady Macquarie's Chair (where apparantly lots of people get proposed to - sadly not us!) it started to rain so we headed home for a quiet evening.
