Clair and Lisa's News
We headed up to Cape Tribulation early in the morning. We stopped off at Daintree River where we tried to spot some Crocodiles. We only seen three, they were all quite small and one of them was only 1metre long as it was a baby Croc. The drive up to our accomodation was beautiful, we got to see some wild Kangaroos and a Cassowary bird. The views were magnificant especially watching the Rainforest meet the Great Barrier Reef.We arrived at our lodge which was lovely and clean, we were staying with two other girls in our dorm Leanne and Nicky. We decided to go for a walk and headed down to the beach, it was quite cloudy but still looked pretty. Everybody was warned not to swim in the sea or the lakes as there had been sightings of a couple of Saltwater Crocs. We felt so nervous and got to a part of the beach where a creek joins the sea. We stood on the bank for a while looking for bubbles where the Croc might be, we spotted some but couldn't see anything, all of a sudden there was a big splash and all these fish came flying out of the water, we ran back, absolutly shaking. When we calmed down we edged a little closer and the same thing happened again, we never actually seen the Croc but we were unsure what else it good be
After all that excitement we headed back and had an early night as we were diving the next day. Unfortunately we couldn't go diving due to the weather, the winds were 30knotts which meant it was too rough
We were gutted but decided to go Jungle Surfing instead which was great fun. Clair was Rodger Ramjit and I was Mad Max. Whilst hanging in the trees a Huntsman spider decided to leave his skin behind beside my leg!!! Scary place the rainforest. To be honest it rained for the rest of our time up there, not really surprising considering we were staying in a rainforest
. We popped over to the village pub with our new room mate Nick, it was such a scary walk, it was pitch black we couldn't even see our hands infront of us and we kept hearing scary noises!! We tried our first bit of Kangaroo meat, it was quite tasty. On our way home we stopped off at Port Douglas it was a pretty little place. We also stopped off at a beautiful water hole called Catherine Gorge, it was a bit too nippy for a swim so we gave it a miss!Well our travels along the East Coast have begun, lets hope the weather improves
Hope all is well at home - Lots of Love The Two Amigos xoxox
