Have had a lovely day in KL!

Having waved Zoe off yesterday, we needed cheering up. So, in typical girlie fashion we went shopping, drank cocktails and ate chocolate!

Abandoning the tourist sights for one day, we headed to a nice shopping centre and found - wonderously - a Topshop (!), an M&S and a Mango. I was in dire need of some essentials - shorts to replace the ones that went missing in the laundry, toiletries and some undies (also a replacement for some knickers that went missing in the laundry - grim)..). We have had such a lovely day, Western style. We drank smoothies, bought facemasks and advised each other on new clothes. (I'm aware that this post is quite boring so far, only other girls will appreciate how buying new pants is a treat when you're travelling - but it gets better - bear with me...

Lots of friends had recommended that I visit the Sky Bar in KL, a rooftop bar at Traders Hotel. So, feeling rather scruffy in my traveller attire I headed up to the 33rd floor - to be greeted by the most incredible view. The bar has a pool cutting through the centre, and chill-out seating areas overlooking the Petronas Towers, which are illuminated at night so they look like giant silver sparkly sugar shakers. Just as we were settling down with a cocktail, a thunderstorm rumbled overhead; soon forks of lightening were blasting across the skyline, rain was battering down into the pool, and we were like little kids watching it all, fascinated.

I had a lovely chat with an older English couple, Christine and Max, on their way home from seeing family in Australia - and we discovered that we'll be doing the Inca Trail around the same time in May. Small world... Christine introduced us to Troy, a passing Aussie on his way back to London after Christmas at home, and we spent a happy evening having a good chin-wag.
