KL - South East Asia, but not as we know it...
Arrived in KL after weeks on the beach in Thailand and its a bit of a shock to the system. I feel like I'm in a very hot version of London! Its very Western, with McDonalds, KFC and Starbucks on every corner. I'm still being stared at a lot, this is a Muslim country so I think blonde (uncovered) hair is a bit of a novelty. But the people are mostly very friendly and we've been keeping busy exploring.
We've been to see the enormous Petronas Towers, went up the 400m high KL Tower (I got vertigo and had to sit down afterwards), visited the Islamic Museum, navigated the skytrain and been confuddled by the roads. Another Asian city which is not pedestrian-friendly, KL requires taxis to cross a road...
Cord's has a family friend here who took us out to dinner last night, and has invited us to a Masonic dinner tonight. Thought Grandad would be interested to hear what a Scottish/ Malaysian lodge meeting was like, so off I go. Will report back!
