As I sit here and write using my last 17 mins of credit i am suddenly very aware that my little friendship group has dispanded and we are all now going our seperate ways, after arranging a caravan holiday in the UK and either a New Zealand trip next year or a tour of the European cities!
After saying goodbye to Laure we went for a night out in Darling Harbour. It was lovely down there and I managed to meet up with an old school friend that I havent seen since sixth form - isnt the world a tiny place.
Tuesday we had a lovely 4 mile walk in the blistering heat from Coojee beach to Bondi which was simply stunning. Michelle is staying with her friend Matt who took us on the walk and deserves a medal for putting up with our sunbathing requests, photo's, shopping needs.....he really did a good job of trying to get 5 women along a path without it taking all day! and he managed to tell us a bit about the walk - bonus!! THen it was Darling Harbour again for a goodbye to everyone :o( the less said about that the better, as tired and emotional people we had a quiet drink then slinked off. I managed to get onto a bus the complete wrong way to where I was going on my way back and the bus driver was really lovely. He said he would be back in the city in an hour but I could get off it and wait for one coming the other way but at midnight he wasnt sure what times they ran. I chose the option of staying safe on the bus but then about 30 seconds later we passed the bus i needed - typical. Then there was another one and the driver flagged him down let me off, I went on the other one and then I was back within 30 mins - I may try going to a night school to learn a sense of direction?
So my last day in Sydney has arrived - I was determined to go shopping for the entire day and just meet Michelle for lunch. However in a typical Kelly fashion, I wandered down to the harbour, got on a bus, didnt get off the bus, got freaked out even though the bus was going where I wanted to be it would just take 30 mins as opposed to 2 mins and a short walk so I decided to just stay with Michelle! We had a lovely lunch, but again I nearly had a disaster! Ordered a salad, it arrived I got suspicious by what looked like nuts in it. Went and asked, was assured no nuts by the chef. Still wasnt happy so took it back and asked him to tell me what it was and he said 'oh yeah, thats almond'. Doh! I got another dinner for free though! After lunch we went to the wildlife centre and saw a huge huge huge huge crocodile 5 meters long. I was very impressed, I wasnt so impressed with all the snakes, butterflies, lizzards and really anything else there - it wasnt for me! Then after a coffee it was a 'byebye' Michelle and I am suddenly alone. Although I have my surf school to start this afternoon - very excited about that! And Im sure loads of more new friends!
My view on Sydney, nice city but its no New York!
I have realised that I have not been very English while writing my blog - I havent spoken about the weather much. Its been hot and humid, although we have had a couple of overcast days back in the gold coast we had a heat wave - 36 degrees - woohoo!
I was also thinking about a few things that I forgot to write about: Firstly, I have accidently started sporting a scottish flag on my foot in the form of accidental tan lines! Between that and my flag of Britain on my purse I definately wont forget where I come from! I also had a complete Kelly moment: while walking around Sydney a few days ago Laura suddenly grabbed my arm, gave a little squeal and went 'oooh its the bridge again'. Now because although it was hot it was overcast and for a little while I thought it was the Tyne Bridge - major Doh! And I gave Laura a really weird look, then realiseds that I had done - major major Doh!
Gotta dash - 2 days of surfing await - woohoo!!
