On our last day we went on a river trip to the Mekong Delta.
We went via boat for the day on the Saigon river express.
It was a fantastic day. We travelled thousands of kms of rivers and canals linking up a vast network of people and industry. In just 130 km we saw such a huge contrast between rich and poor.
Our fresh juice from the coconut and giant catfish for lunch at an orphanage was a real eye opener.
The local market conditions saw fresh meat and fish in a setting that looked and smelt very different from the usual supermarket that's for sure!
The pollution in the Saigon river is unbelievable. It's treated as a giant rubbish dump- floating shoes, plastic bags etc- not pretty however the further we went from the city the cleaner it became.
The local villages rely on the river for produce and transportation.
Living in such poverty you'd think the people here would be miserable however I've never seen such happy people - a smile never far away.
What an amazing holiday we have had!
So many new and exciting experiences to look back on.
