..."Squeeeeeeel like a pig!!!"...
We started our travels across the United States from New York last Wednesday. Made our way to Washington D.C but I like to call it D.C 'cos it sounds like you know what your talking about!
Went to see the Washington Monument/Reflecting Pool (the bit from Forest Gump when Forest & Jenny run into the water at the war protest), then went to see the White House amongst other things.
Moved on through to Virginia to Tennessee 450 mile road trip, 8 hours in the van, right laugh!!!!.
I've got to tell you this is proper mountain country, red neck, hill-billy ..."you got real pretty lips boy".... country. Went white water rafting down the Ocoee River which was unbelievable (scale 3/4 rapids), its nice to see a river without any shopping trolleys in it!!!!!! Amazing Scenery!!!!! I could hear the banjo's playin'!!!!!!
Moved on and drove through Alabama, I like it hot...... but not this hot!!! Constantly sweating but you just dont care, I'm glad I packed a handkerchief to mop my brow!!!
Carried on through to Louisiana, on the way to New Orleans stopped and had a tour of the swamps....... one word... Alligators!!!!! I've never seen anything like it....wild alligators, I've got some unbelieveable photo's of them did'nt even have to use the zoom!!!! (We promise to get some photo's on here, I've just nearly launched this computer out of the window 'cos I cant figure out how to upload them)
Had a big night out in New Orleans last night, I showed the U.S what kareoke is all about!!!! Rotherham style!!!!!!!
We're both really enjoying it here in the deep south, the people are really nice and welcoming. The group we are travelling with are spot on, everybodys sound, 7 from the UK, 2 from Norway and 1 Aussie.
We'll try and update again soon but it's difficult as the places we are stopping dont all have internet access.
Hope you are all well, and we miss you all like mad!!!!
Lots of love
Gem & Rob xxxx
P.S - The photos are worth waiting for!!!!
