So its out of washington at 6am to catch a train to new port news and then a bus to virginia beach. Trains are definitely the way to go in America the seats are twice the width of normal train seats and you can stretch your legs out as far as you would like!! Took a total of 5 1/2 hours and that was us arriving 45 mins ahead of schedule!!

Bus dropped us reight beside our hotel and the sun was shining so all was good! Checked in and our room was a pleasant surprise had a separate living room and a balcony that looked out to the ocean! A far cry from the box rooms we are now used to and all for cheaper than we are used to paying!

Quick change into my bikini and its a short walk to the beach where we collapsed and slept for the rest of the afternoon. As we had a bit of a living space in our accommodation we decided just to get a take away in for tea as we had eaten out every night so far. Chinese and a bottle of wine on the balcony! Bliss!!

Day 2 fairly uneventful lying on the beach then another night in with a pizza (well actually it was 3 pizzas and some chicken wings!).

Day 3 was collecting the car and heading on down the coast to myrtle beach. We knew the road that the hire car place was on so mike suggested leaving our bags at the hotel, walking to hertz then taking the car back to the hotel to collect the bags! A fine plan so off we set and about 15 min into the journey we were at building number 907 on the road and i asked mike what number the garage was on and he couldnt remember so got the booking confirmation out only to tell me we had to get to number 3012!! To cut a long story short 15 min later in a taxi that cost $15 we were there!! The nice man in the hertz garage kindly offered us a free upgrade and mikes jaw hit the floor when he said we could have any car on the lot!! So our choice was between a 4x4 toyota rav 4 and a ford mustang! I was not a popular girl when i suggested the toyota as the fuel consumption would be less! Eventually mike had to see it from my point of view so off we set in this amazing massive 4x4 truck!
