Day 89: Southport to Tenterfield
Our day did not start as we had planned. Darren was awake half the night alternating between shivering and cold sweats. I was worried about him driving today so tried to encourage him to stay on the Gold Coast for an extra night, but when Darren's mind is made there is no persuading otherwise. He'd had enough of the busy Gold Coast and was convinced he would drive no matter what.
So we doped Darren up on panadol and set off for Tenterfield. He struggled a little but managed quite well. Now I can hear everyone asking me why I didn't drive, and there is a very good reason for that; he won't let me!
Once we arrived and set up, Darren spent the remainder of the day in bed. It's currently 8pm and he is already fast asleep.
We have relocated from one extreme to the other. We left the hussle and bussle of the tourist packed Gold Coast for the small town atmosphere of Tenterfield.
The park we are staying at is called Craigs Caravan Park and has a grand total of 13 sites. It is a transit park but the staff are friendly and the amenities clean so what more can a person ask for.
The staff working here are relieving the owners whilst they are holidaying with their kids on the coast. It really is a small town where everybody knows everybody else. I heard all about the people who own the Motel down the road, he is only about 42 and is in hospital with pneumonia then she underestimated how much juice she needed so she called Pam who is helping here while the owners are gone, to get some juice for her. Love small towns!
Tomorrow the kids and I are going hiking in Bald Rock and Boonoo Boonoo national parks. Hopefully Darren will be well enough to come with us.
