Kia Ora from Stephanie in NZ's adventure capital, Queenstown! And we twins have definitely got ourselves stuck in already...at 11:00 this morning, I did Australasia's highest bungy jump at 134m high, the Nevis bungy, with 8.5 seconds of freefall above the rushing river rushing snaking through a canyon!! It was the most AMAAAZING experience leaping off the tiny platform suspended on metal wires across the valley, though one I probably wouldn't repeat...having the willpower to push yourself over the edge is no mean feat! It was definitely the most scary thing I've ever done, but one to tell the grandkids! I have some amazing photo prints that I will be taking home and will hopefully scan in to the computer to put online.
Emily, on the other hand, chose to do a canyon swing this afternoon, a 109m high swing across a canyon with 60m of freefall and a 200m arc att 150kph!! She loved it so much she did another (for $15!). Yeah BABY! As we are here in Queenstown, we decided that we had to do them; you only live once and we may never get the chance to come back again! It's been a very adrenaline filled day :) I also was able to watch one of the other girls on the bus, Jess, conquer The Nevis Arc, the highest swing in the world across the same canyon as my bungy - I don't know, these Kiwi's definitely know the best ways to pass time...!
Yesterday we left beautiful Wanaka and stopped on the way at Puzzling World, a cute little centre full of frustrating puzzles and funky optical illusions, which you can see in our photos. There was also a large maze outside whereby we had to find our way to the four coloured corner towers; whilst this took us just under 20 mins (average 30-40!) to complete, it took us another hour to find the way out!! We also stopped for a traditional Kiwi Exp bus group photo beside lake Wanaka which we could buy for $12, but I took my own photo of it when it was projected all over the Altitude bar that evening...!
Last night was our big night on the town - well it is Queenstown! With Kiwi Exp drinks deals and happy hours, the drinks flowed. At one bar we were the sole owners of a password to gain 100 free drinks for our bus, so naturally we were the envy of the town...! It was such a great night (even when Emily became so drunk I had to walk her back to the hostel at 11pm to be put to bed!). Light-weights...tuh. And to top it off, we all treated ourselves to a Fergburger (the BEST burgers ever!) at 4am before heading back to catch 40 winks.
Tomorrow Em and I leave this bus and take the Bottom Bus right down around the very South of NZ, so it's sad to be leaving this great, fun-loving group of people with whom we've formed many close and long-term relationships, but we know there will be many more to come!
Love to everyone xxxxx
