Tuesday 5 April
Cool and cloudy
We had to be up at 6.30 this morning and ready to leave at 8.After spending yesterday in bedl feel only slightly better.Mum's bought me some cough medicine and nose drops.Slept on the bus on the way to the Tia Pepe winery in the Jerez region where they make and import sherry. The soil is of clay so it's quite white but it gives the sherry that special taste.Had a guided tour of the winery and then some sherry tasting.I don't drink sherry and still not feeling well so opted out and watched other people drink.Mum liked the cream sherry over the dry one. It's very tourist orientated. We then headed to the town of Ronda, famous for the ravine that literally cuts it in two, and it's bull fighting connections. We had a 90 minute stop here so we had some lunch and a coffee and a little walk around the square.I didn't want to do too much as l think l get too tired then l get sick. The ravine is very deep and it made me get vertigo if l looked down for too long….scary! The villages all around here are typically white painted villages. The landscape has changed to very rocky soil where there are plenty of olive trees grown (4-5 per person in Spain) also broad beans, wheat, and pea fields were in abundance. The area is also quite mountainous. We arrived in Granada around 5.30.Tea is at 8pm then Mum is going to a Flamenco show at around 9.30pm.I'm staying in as we have to get up at 6.30 again in the morning.Today has been quite chilly warming up a little around 2pm in the town of Ronda then cooling down again once we got to Granada. I haven't been able to get onto the internet in our room for the last few days and even today l've had to come down to the bar. Bloody nuisance......oh well a few drinks'll soon sort that out hahaha...
