Ooolah! After a big night last night we were woken around 7am. After breaky we drove further into the Basque country to a seaside resort called San Sebastion (Donostia in Basque) which is on the southern coast of the Bay of Biscay. It has a french influence as it's so close to the french border. We had a 90 minute stop here where mum and l walked to the beach area then we went into the square and bought some pastries, a fresh bread roll and then onto the market where we bought some salami and cheese to make up the bread roll for lunch at our next stop which was the Guggenheim museum in Bilbao. The museum is considered one of the 20th century's great architectural masterpieces and the outside of the building was very impressive. There was a dog statue made completely of pansies....so pretty. The actual museum was extremely disappointing, l reckon the one in Bendigo is better! Most of it was closed due to a new exhibition starting soon so there wasn't that much to see. After we had a quick look around we walked up to the plaza to have a look at the shops....l really wanted an icecream but we had no luck finding an icecream shop. It was time to head back to the bus for a 2 hour trip to Burgos where we'll stay overnight. It has become really hot and we were glad to get back to the nice air conditioned comfort of the bus. We arrived in Burgos at around 5.15 and after we were allocated our room we walked to the Burgos Cathedral. It was really beautiful with it's twin towers of the 13 & 14th centuries, and 4 doorways. The first stone was laid in 1221 and the first service was held in it as early as 1230. I was able to take a couple of photos inside but flash wasn't allowed so l bought a heap of postcards. Mum went onto a museum while l walked back to the hotel to do the blog. On the way back to the hotel l found an icecream shop so l finally got my icecream. Dinner isn't until 8.30 so l'm hoping to have this blog finished before then so l can go straight to bed after dinner.

judy stanley I think Cathedrals are a lot more interesting than museums. They're usually prettier! Started my new job this week, what a challenge. Sounds like the trip is very exciting.Have fun. Jude xx
