working hard/ hardly working....
so we have become working people. restaurant and winery during weekends and farming during the weekdays. Anton has become quite a handy man with his rubber boots and four-wheel bike, chasing snakes and hairy spiders all over the farm. Monika is doing a bit of everything, but mostly working at the restaurant and learning about french food (in Australia, I know) and local wines. Oh, for those who don't know, this is a vineyard we are working at. The owners, Chris and Sally, grow their own grapes and make their own wine, which we gladly help them taste and evaluate.
With long days at work and daylight being shorter and shorter everyday (it gets dark at 18.00 now, autumn), not many things to report on to be honest. The biggest one being our 2 day trip to Sydney. Took a few days off, got on to a train and went to see the center of the country. Great trip!!! Warm and sunny, +28 degrees and blue sky and we did our best to see the most important stuff: city view from 309m up in Sydney Tower, the Opera House, the Harbour Bridge...and everything once again at night, with live music by the Opera house. AMAZING! The second day was so hot that, OF COURSE, Bondi beach was calling. So cool to see it live, with the lifeguards we've seen on tv on so many cold winter days... spent the whole day on the beach and would have slept there if not for the Australian autumn weather : out of the blue it started pouring down rain of the century with lightening and thunder and all the other fun storm-stuff so it was time to look for a train back home....
so we're back on the farm. Will stay here for a month or so, at least until easter, and then we'll just have to see where destiny will take us next.
that's all from the young farmers/wine tasters,
over and out 'till next time!!!!
