How we went sightseeing and ended up with a job....
Long time no write.... sorry about that, but we've been busy bysy busy. Mildura, in Victoria, did not work out the way we'd expected: with the floodings over half of the city and all the fruits and vegetables drowned there were not many things to see or do. and definately no work, so we took a really nice 800km drive back to the south-east coast, a place called Paradise Beach. Tired as hell after 11 hours behind a wheel along tiny and thin and straight roads the beach really felt like a piece of paradise.
Recovered and bored with just hanging on the sand we continued along the coast- a bunch of tiny places, nice lagoons and hidden beaches. Crossed the boarder of New South Wales on the 4th of March and that's where the real Australia started!!!! The weather has been wonderful, sunny and warm, and the constant searching for a shower didn't seem like such a problem anymore - the beaches were there, warm and wavy and blue.
Found this wonderful camp site on a place called Middle Beach and spend one of the worst nights in a tent so far - as soon as we got there a family of kangoroos settled in just next to us. For the whole night we had to protect our food, fire and personal stuff from way to curious kangoroos, a sneaky racoon and a mouse that just wouldn't let the food bag alone. exciting! needed a power nap after that night, but it was fun as hell.
Afterwards we went to Canberra. Bit tired of the nature we were really looking forward to a big city and meeting other people. What a disappointment! Canberra is big, square, filled with offices and people in suits and ties that are completely uninterested of anything else that running the country. Oh, well, checked out their National museum, the Parlament and all the other compulsory stuff you're supposed to see in a capital city and were out of there the second day.
Off along the coast again, sightseeing and enjoying life when out of a blue we passed this really tiny and cute winery. Stopped to check it out, met the owners, Sally and Chris, an older couple, and..... got a job!!!! We'll be helping them at the winery and the restaurant they run during weekends, help out on the farm and with the animals during the weekdays. And, above all that, they have a little guest house behind the winery, with a bathroom and all the facilities, which is ours for as long as we work there!!!! HOW COOL IS THAT!!??? Got now until Sunday to travel around the area and take it easy and starting monday we are both working people. if you're interested, check out their homepage : mountashby.com.au - that's our new place. don't know yet for how long we'll be staying there but will try to keep you updated as often as possible.
That's it from us for now.
Kisses and hugs and loads of love to all of you!!!!
