Rise and shine! Today I left for class very early, because I had previously experienced problems with my metro card and wanted to ask the IES workers to help me get it fixed. However, when I tried it on the metro, it ended up working! So, I simply arrived for class very early (so early that the doors to IES were closed and I walked right by it twice!). I hung out in the library until class started, but talked with Alyssa and Christian instead of getting any work done. After class, I headed to TIM to FINALLY get an Italian phone to have contact with the other kids in the program! I lucked out when Mia gave me the old phone of a girl from a previous IES program, so I only had to pay 10 euros for a SIM card, along with 10 euros for 1000 texts, 400 minutes, and unlimited Internet, although my old school flip phone cannot even handle Internet! That night, Mia took us, and a ton of other kids from IES, to an aperitivo at a restaurant called Yguana...AMAZING! For ten euros, I bought a delicious, fruity drink named after the restaurant. Along with the drink, you get access to the buffet, and what a buffet it was! You might say I was in heaven. There were cheese pizzas, vegetable pizzas, garlic pizzas, stuffed tomatoes, fried potato sticks, garlic shelled pasta, lasagna, red sauce penne pasta, quiche, creamy bow-tie pasta, artichokes, risottos, chocolate cake, French fries, onion rings, and practically any food you could imagine! They kept changing the options throughout the night. Enjoying my meal with Karina, Alyssa, Jenny, Bre, Olivia, Stephanie, Mia, Christian, Eric, and Adam, most of them decided to leave early. I joined in with the IES kids, and enjoyed the rest of the night with Hannah, Chidera, Tiffany, Joey, and David. The girls always make fun of me because I will go and talk to anyone! By the time we left, it was probably around ten, and the square called Calonne was absolutely packed with local Italians buying drinks from cheap walk in bars. It was an amazing time, and I finally got a full taste of local night life! Although I wanted to stay, my stomach was pretty upset so I decided to leave. I ventured to the bus stop by myself and by some utter stroke of luck, saw Real Pizza and knew I was close to home. I hopped off and wandering back to Corsa di Porta Nuovo. Unfortunately, I let slip to the parents that I came home from the night alone, and they were not very happy and banned me from doing that again. Hehe whoops. Still a great night!
