Our whirlwind Rajasthan journey came to a close in Udaipur for two nights - a (relatively) quiet, calm city in a beautiful setting over the surrounding lakes. Two highlights on the long and twisty journey from Jodhpur included a stop at a beautiful, intricately carved Jain temple, and our driver stopping along on the road to toss a bunch of bananas to some monkeys, explaining that it was good karma to feed them when they are hungry in the dry season. The monkey experiences just keep coming, and they never, ever get old. Love these mischievous little creatures! In Udaipur we happily discovered that the rooftop restaurant scene is thriving, and spent our evenings watching the sun set over the city. We took a boat trip around the famous Lake Pichola and dreamt about staying at the luxurious Lake Palace Hotel in the middle of the water. It is really a lovely, romantic city - one that you could easily spend a few extra days in to just enjoy the ambience. But we closed our time here by saying goodbye to our driver at the airport and boarding a flight to take us to our last state in India - Uttarakhand!
