Our 6 months away were absolutely amazing. At the start of this journey we talked about this trip being the oppertunity of a lifetime and it was! We will definately travel again but this trip exceeded every possible hope we could have had. We went away excited but not knowing what to expect, we came back even more excited, full of adventure and already hatching the plans for our next curious adventure. Highlights:
We stayed in 30 hostels.
We took 22 long haul bus rides (anything over 6 hours). Drank champange on some of them.
We flew 13 flights.
Visited 10 countries.
Lived in the jungle for a month.
Saw many beautiful (a few of those which were dangerous) animals.
Tasted new foods.
Trekked the Andes reaching a height of 4,700 meters.
Stood at the Devils Throat.
Tickled the worlds belly button.
Watched over the sunset with the Maoi.
Sailed under waterfalls.
Waved down to the South Pole.
Drank the finest bodega wines.
And most especially; got engaged.
Our experience has taught us that where ever you go not all you see will be to your liking, but if you stop and look you will see the hidden charm. We landed in some places with reservation, but often found that the old saying of 'judging a book by its cover' is in fact true. We have said it so many times but we really did see some beautiful places, infact we left our hearts in some hoping for a return. Our adventure was made not only by the places but by the amazing people we were lucky enough to meet along the way (you know who you are!). Strangers invited us in to their lives and fellow travellers shared their journeys with us we couldn't have asked for more.
WORLD - YOU ROCK!
The world is a pretty spectacular place and we hope we get the chance to see it again soon.
