We've arrived!!
After an 11 hour flight and all of our travels around the World we have finally arrived in the US of A. We landed on 3rd July to catch the 4th July celebrations and thought 'lets nip to the beach on the way to our accommodation'. Urgh.....2 hours later we arrived in Santa Monica. The beach was gorgeous and not very busy and we spent a lovely 30mins walking along the beach and stopped for an iced coffee. All very L.A. We actually saw people roller blading along the path. No Pamela Anderson (mid 90s version) though, unfortunately for Brett.
Then we sat in traffic for another 2 and a half hours to get to our destnation. Hmmm maybe 4th July weekend wasn't the best idea. But hey!
We stayed in hip and happening North Hollywood (or NoHo for short) and headed in to see the sights on 4th July. We went on the obligatory celeb house tour through Beverley Hills. All the high walls and hedges were really quite spectacular. We did get to see some cool spots like Rodeo Drive and Sunset Blvd. We also managed to see the Hollywood sign up in the Hills but the photos don't really do it justice. If you take a magnifying glass to them you can just about see it in the distance. But thats not the point, we were there, we saw it! Stragely we haven't been discovered by any movie producers yet but I guess it's just a matter of time.
We decided to catch some Independance Day fireworks from the Hollywood Hills, where we could see over the whole city and watch all the different displays. Unfortunately the rest of L.A had the same idea and the road was closed. So we ended up missing the fireworks. Typical. We did enjoy the argument on the way there with all the traffic though, so that was fun.
After just a couple of short days in L.A we headed off to pastures new...
