Sam's Thai Travels
Dude... Sweet!! Ahh yes I've missed you guys saying those words as well... arrrghhhh!!! Oh and let's not forget Nygaeeee (from the amusing tour guide in Wat Pho in Bangkok!)
Anyway to everyone else who probably now thinks I'm going insane out here (!) I'm now in Koh Phangan! It's all very exciting and great to be here at last. All 14 of us teachers are here now and we started our first day of training today after a few days of relaxation. Yesterday we spent the day at one of the most beautiful beaches on the island but it was a tad overcast so Greg and I decided to go kayaking which proved very amusing especially when we nearly crashed into some rocks swarming with crabs. The day before we spent the day at a beautiful beach resort with a great swimming pool and lovely restaurant as well as pool, table tennis and volleyball. Very nice. Everyone is really nice and we all seem to get on pretty well despite everyone else trying to get over their jet lag and becoming acclimatised.
On the first night Judith and I arrived we all (those of us who were here) went to the Half Moon Party which was absolutely mad and in the middle of the jungle! Only intended to stay for an hour or so and ended up walking home at 4am! Madness I tell you. Can't even imagine what the Full Moon Party will be like if that one was anything to go by. Luckily, as we started the training a day early, we finish on the night of this month's Full Moon Party so we'll be able to sleep through our hangovers the next morning! Had to get up at 7.30 this morning which was a bit of a shock to the system but it was really good and exciting to be doing some work and finding out what we'll be doing once we start teaching. We have four more days of training, then a few days of relaxing and then we go to different schools around the island in pairs to start our teaching. Can't wait. Went to Haad Rin (where the Full Moon Partys are held) this afternoon for a look around and the beach was beautiful and it was really lively with lots of backpackers and funky shops. Was beginning to think that we were the only foreigners on the island but have now found where they have all been hiding and could see why!
Anyway best be off to soak up some more rays before the sun goes down. Hope everyone is well.
Lots of love to you all,
Sam xxxx
