Sam's Thai Travels
Hey everyone,
Not much to update really just to let you know that I have arrived in Chiang Mai safe and sound. Overnight train which went from being an estimated 12 hours to the eventual 15 hours (yes I know I could have flown home in that time!) was fine although very hot at first as paul and I opted for the top bunks of a fan not air conditioned carriage. Think I may be getting some form of a/c transport back to Bangkok! Slept ok, especially as only semed to get about 4 hours the night before as we were drinking those dreadful but tasty lethal whisky buckets cos it was our last night together (!), however kept waking up when the train noisly stopped or jolted. Arrived at guesthouse which is really nice, we chose it from a recommendation from Sarah and Ed (a couple we all met in the Cameron Highlands who were lovely) and it is just as they said - clean and v.friendly. They can also book practically anything you want to do so Paul is sorting out a trip to Laos when we get back from the elephant conservation and I am thinking about doing a 2day Thai cookery course before I have to head back to Bangkok. Chiang Mai is really quiet compared to Bangkok and v.nice, they also randomly have a starbucks!
Paul and I are thinking of hiring bikes tomorow and going to a mountain with apparently a great temple and great views from the top although somehow think we might get cable car up and cycle down! Then will probably do some proper exploring of Chiang Mai. Probably off to a night bazaar tonight and no doubt going to have an early night cos seriously can't remember when I had a proper night's sleep!
Hope everyone is well, missing you all
Lots of love,
Sam xxx
P.S Judith please check your e-mails before you book accomodation in Bangkok. Thanks.
