G'day!
Hope you are all well.
We met Ken and Margaret at 9am on Saturday morning after a night in the worst accomodation ever (which we have to stop at again on Wednesday!) and began our journey to the Great Ocean Road. We saw some great sites! We stopped at Torquay Beach where we saw hundreds of surfers and we stopped at Bells Beach where they have all the surfing competitions. Teresa wanted to go and hire a surf board. lol. We travelled to the 12 Apostles and saw the London Bridge (although its fallen down now!. We also stopped at lots of pretty lookouts and have got some good pictures.
In the evening we drove to Port Campbell where we stayed for the night- we stayed in luxury accomodation compared to what we have been used too!! It was great. We had a nice tea in the evening at an RSL restaurant by the sea- the meal was lovely! It was quite funny on the way back to our accomodation as the satnav kept telling us to go the wrong way and so we got a bit lost!!!
On Sunday we were up at 7.30am to drive back along the Great Ocean Road again we got lots of pictures. We climbed a lighthouse (Cape Otway) that we stopped at and saw the location of many shipwrecks and a possible UFO abduction site. We also saw about 14 Koalas out in the wild- which is amazing and very rare as Margaret has lived here all her life and has only ever seen 2!!! So we were very lucky.
Ken and Marg are lovely people. Sunday night we drove to Sale and arrived at their home. Its really good as we've been able to use their washing machine so eveything smells good and they are cooking us a roast tonight- so we will be well fed for the next few days!!! This morning (Monday) we were up at 9.30 and have taken it easy since then...which is nice. Had a drive around Sale and met Ken and Margs daughter.
On Sunday we actually drove 535 kms (about 400 miles) so we were in the car along time- however the scenery is so lovely you foget about it.
Speak to you soon
Teresa and Lindsay
