This has to be one of the most beautiful places on earth.
Sailing over on the boat you instantly knew when you were almost here. The water turned clear and the sand turned white. The hills were full of green and there were little huts throughout the mountains. Pictures just do not do it any justice.
The only problem with this tiny island is that they don't do cars, or motorbikes or tuk tuks.. which is great for the environment just not when you are ridiculously burnt with a 17kg rucksack scratching you every time you move! Oh and when the hotel you are staying in is on the other side of this island!
Yes - you read that right! I am staying in a hotel. This backpacker just got posh! I decided that after 5 weeks of paying pennies for shared showers and bedroom I wanted a little bit of luxury and where better to do that than on the pretty island of Phi Phi!
I wasn't disappointed! It was so nice to put my bag down, not find a locker, empty it everywhere not worrying about putting it straight back in and being able to have a shower without having to take your clothes with you and dry in a wet shower. I mean, don't get me wrong.. I will miss this when I'm not slumming it but for tonight, it was lush!
I went out for a little wander, found a map, and some westerner food and was set! I made a plan of action for tomorrow and tucked into my cheeseburger! There were so many dive shops, tattooists (mum I kept my promise, none as yet!) and pubs. This seems to be the pre party island for Koh Phangan! God I am so excited to get there! Don't get me wrong, Phi Phi is a beautiful island but after almost two weeks on my own, I am excited to see all of the girls and destroy my liver properly since leaving home almost 6 weeks ago!! Doesn't time fly when you are having fun..
