Australia Day. A day for the Australians. They absolutely love it, any excuse for a party and some fireworks.. 20 minutes worth to be precise! We will touch back on this point at a later date I don't doubt!

Today was really just about getting drunk, carrying around an Aussie flag and walking around, proud to be British, but an honorary Aussie at the same time! They really go for it out here, I mean flags everywhere and then there was even English double decker buses.. obviously as a thank you..?!

If you were to compare it to St. George's day, well it's as if we don't even bother! There is such a difference over here. They are so proud of who they are and their country and it really shows not just even on days like this but all the time.

So yeah myself and the other Brits decided to celebrate by getting drunk and then eating a curry. I don't know how we ended up in an Indian but we did and it was good. Luckily we finished in time for the fireworks in Darling Harbour..

Now. The fireworks. Australia is big on celebrations and fireworks and the 20 minute display today proved just that.. My arms were drained of blood from holding my camera and phone capturing these moments but I actually found myself hoping the next firework would be the last..

Yes Australia, you are great, but I know this already which is why I left my own country to come and live in yours.. So save yourself a couple of hundred thousand dollars, sell me a flag and let me just get drunk..
