I have been looking forward to today since I paid for this trip! Apart from the Great Wall, obviously, if I saw nothing else I would be happy! Luckily for me, the Terracotta Army did not disappoint!
Early start as always, got to beat all those other eager beavers to the front of the queue and then we were off! I did, of course, have Kevin the minion ready to be photobombed by the warriors! I had, for whatever reason, created this image in my head of what it would look like and it was even better in real life. It's just so fascinating! Like the emperors reasons behind doing it, how he did it and how they are still finding them today! Seeing it in front of you it genuinely feels like an army waiting to do battle. It's one of those things again where unless you see it, you will never fully understand how it feels to see them! Which isn't helpful for you guys!
That took up most of the day and we got back late afternoon, just enough time for me to go to the bank. INSERT EXCITING PART HERE. I went on my own, managed to get the right money and didn't get mugged. WIN.
It was Emma's birthday today so to celebrate we went to this restaurant called Hot Pots. Kinda does what it says on the tin, there is a hot pot. You put things in it then you eat from it. It's kinda a lot more exciting in real life, promise. They give you a selection of meats and vegetables and you then place them into the pot, that is hot, and let it cook. Then you get to dip it into a sauce that you get to make with oil and herbs an spices and fill your belly. It's a different way of doing things but if I wanted to cook myself I wouldn't go out for dinner..
Needing to celebrate properly we went to the coolest karaoke bar called GoGoHappy! We paid for this room for 4 hours and they give you beer and food and karaoke. It was definitely something different!
Last day in Xi'an tomorrow, debating a bike ride along the city wall. It just means I have to be up in 4 hours.. Will let you know how that goes..!
