After an early start to the day for our visit to Hearst Castle and a very long drive from San Simeon via Los Angeles, we arrived in Anaheim on Sunday evening. On our way, we dropped by Mann's Chinese Theatre to look at the stars on the boardwalk and we ran into Michael Jackson, of all people.
We then cruised along Sunset Boulevard (saw no stars) then had a toilet stop on Rodeo Drive. Ms Loveday and Ms Coleman were the only ones who were quick enough to make a purchase there...
We spent Monday at Disneyland which happened to be the hottest day on record (by 1 degree farenheit) - 117 degrees (about 43 degrees celcius). The girls did a good job of covering themselves with sunscreen, drinking water and staying out of the sun, but even so some had to go back to hotel in the afternoon to cool off. A few die hards (Emily, Olivia, Gayle, Linley, Madi M, Megan) lasted the whole day until after 8.00pm. The hot weather meant there wasn't much of a crowd so there were no queues for rides - we walked straight onto all of the rides. Amazing!
The merchandising at Disneyland is incredible and we all gave our credit cards a good workout.
Today (Tuesday), we spent the day at Universal Studios. The day was a lot cooler so we had no trouble lasting the whole day. There are 4 long, steap escalators that take you from the main level down to the level with most of the rides. Maddi M and Deanna tried to walk up one of these sections using the stairs and are still sore from it.
On the way back to the motel, the bus driver (Fred) stopped at In-N-Out so we could grab a quick burger and chips for dinner, which was just as well since the traffic was quite bad even though there were 12 lanes in parts.
We are off to San Deigo for a bit of sight seeing and shopping tomorrow before heading home on Thursday evening to arrive home on Saturday morning
