Well where do i begin . . . our previous blog came from the tunnels under Buda castle . . . after looking round the tunnels we made our way over the river to Pest to look at the cathedral and walk down the 2.4k main road of shops and museums. After looking at the very impressive cathedral (as a wedding was going on!) we walked toward the main road. . . it became increasingly apparent that there were lots and lots of police men around, in full riot gear, with dogs, and guns . . . hmmm
After walking past several closed streets we decided to ask what was happening, the chaps exact words were: "It's the gays day" ahh that explains it, Gay Pride parrade! Well Budapest police seem to treat such an event a little differently to london. We were gradually hoarded a fair distance from the main road, so no pedestrians could see the parrade. Between us and the floats were two rows of very square shaped police men, a row of attack dogs and handlers, 3 police riot vehicles and finally umpteen squad cars! goodness!
So we watched what we could of the parrade and headed home.
The next day we got up and caught the metro to the main road to continue our walk where we got stopped the daty before. After quite a long walk we made it to the city park and zoo. As i am a bit of a sucker for fluffy animals we went and walked round the zoo for a few hours. It was very impressive, lovely big funky enclosures and lots to see. Chris was happy because he got to see a polar bear!
After the zoo we caught the metro back to the river and walked over the bridge to the Rudas turkish baths. On the weekends they have 'family' times that you can go in wearing a bathing costume and dont have to look at lots of naked people . . . The baths were stunning, we sat in all the hot pools, went for a steam at 55 degrees! and had a bucket shower! nice and relaxing.
After deciding we were wrinkly enough we headed home. Then at 23.00 the unimaginable happened . . . i spotted a bug . . . a bed bug! aaaaggggggghhhhhhhhhh yuck . . . we caught it and after much phone googling we decided it was definately a bed bug. . . oh dear.
luckily the room next door was free so we upped sticks and slept in there. We told the owners in the morning who were very good about it, they called the exterminator straight away! and didn't charge us for our nights stay.
Now we are in Bratislava, having got on the train at 11.30 this morning, its quite nice from what i have seen so far. Currently making the most of the internet as we havent had any for the last few days.
Bye x Team p

Steve Taylor Methinks it was definitely a buda bug! Enjoy yourself in Bratislava. The literal translation is I believe 'hot obnoxious kids'
Mum R Oh my word. How lovely. An extra travelling companion or two. I'm sure you've done the research but wash in hot water any clothes associated with the beasty just incase its eggs hitched a ride. Shame you had the turkish bath before you found it instead of after!! I expect the police incident seemed calm after your bug encounter. Where's the flame thrower when you need one?
