Well we made it into Russia! Chris was pooping it a little . . . but after a tough border control that involved 6 dogs, 50 soldiers and a tank we were through . . . not really, it was 2 very bored ladies sitting in a box.!
We are now in St Petersburg and are going to seek out the all you can eat buffet the book recons is round the corner.

Mum R Very funny! How cool to be in such a great place. I do hope you find the history interesting. You must be so excited to have made it through the border after all you went through to get the visas!! We are so excited that you are now in Russia. I know you will have a great time on the next leg of your trip xx p.s. I do hope you can download some photos soon. We'd love to see the sights x Maybe you could check out the chess hotspots and take photos. Might stop Steve moping about not being there....

Steve Taylor By the way the 1914 Chess Tournament was played at chess club at liteiny prosekt 10. Have no idea if it is still standing...but you never know. Your mission, if you choose to accept it, is to find this chess mecca. At the same time you must avoid all contact with the state police who will no doubt be disguised as old bearded ladies! Have fun x
