I'll load the photos from Zagreb this afternoon when we move on to Zadar - there's not that many.
We arrived on the night train which was suprisingly comfortable and we lucked out getting a whole cabin to ourselves.
So we spent the day in Zagreb. Well looking in the book there was a small old town, a lot of art museums, a few other types of museums and not a lot else. It was quite accurate.
We arrived at the hostel at 9am but couldn't check in until 12noon so we left our stuff and went out.
We spent the morning wandering around the art museum which was huge. So big that in the end it took about three hours to wander around. With various bits of furniture, a big art deco exhibiton and a lot of clocks it was quite interesting.
After that we cam back to the hostel to find our room for 10. It had a few lads in it who had obviously had a bit of a messy night and there stuff was strewn everywhere. So Claire wasn't happy, we left our stuff in the lockers and when to wander around some of the old town, it all looked a bit scumy and they have a real graffiti issue here.
We went to the catheral which was baroque and much like every other cathedral I have seen at this point it started to rain. I think it is fair to say at this poiunt we were looking forward to leaving.
So in a bit of a funk we decided to go back to the hostel sort out moving on and have a shower.
Showers can change everything!
Feeling fresher, having booked a place to stay in our own room and near a beach (lets hope for sun) and a bit more relaxed we decided to try the old town again.
This time we found the town hall which was pretty special looking, followed by a poky little bar - which served local beer at 9kn! 8kn = a pound. Lets say the day got better.
So after a couple of beers and dinner for a fiver we crashed back at the hostel.
On the whole I can see why you'd come to Zagreb for a drinking weekend. Otherwise not a lot else here.
