After quite a comfortable stay in the salt hotel we had an early breakfast and headed out in the jeep. Today involved a lot of driving, with most of the day spent inside the car getting to our next destination. We visited several lagoons along the way. The landscapes were beautiful and the mountains reflected in the water of the lagoons. There were lots of flamingos in the lagoons and three different species of them. The first few lagoons we saw had parts iced over. We then visited an area which had lots of different rock formations. Finally we visited the red lagoon. The water is very red, caused by a specific type of algae. At the site there was an observing building with a great view of the lagoon and lots of information about the formation of the lagoon and the different types of flamingos that lived in it. Afterwards we arrived at our very basic and cold hostel! We played card games by the fire for a couple of hours before dinner of spaghetti bolognese. We all went to bed fairly early as we had to be up at 5am the next day and Eddy wasn't feeling very well. The room was freezing and we had to wear hats and gloves in bed.
