Today was the day we set out across Texas. We thought about staying in the RV Park we were in but when we woke up it was pouring rain, so we packed up our stuff and headed west. It was interesting to see the terrain change as we drove. We started noticing more and more cacti and less other vegetation. There were sections of the interstate where the wind was pretty strong. I guess I was not the first person to notice this as there were hundreds and hundreds of windmills as far as you could see. For those that don't know, Brigette has some sort of force field that renders electronics useless. Well, I could not help but laugh as several of the windmills stopped spinning completely as we drove by, even though the wind was blasting? If only Brigette could figure out how to harness her superpowers and use them for good, the world would be a better place. After the wind farms, came big oil county. Mile after mile of pump jacks and Derricks. The towns consisted of nothing but run down houses, mobile home parks littered with garbage, old cars, and scrap and the only businesses we saw were oil drilling, oil refining, oil equipment rental, oil servicing companies and liquor stores. There was one place we saw where there were 6 dilapidated mobile homes, a bunch of boarded up business and one liquor store that was open for business. Very strange sight. We passed through the hometown of George and Laura Bush and there was a big sign announcing it on the way in. If I were George and Laura Bush, I would have passed some sort of bill preventing towns from putting up signs declaring who lived there.
We drove about 500-600kms today and sopped in Pecos Texas. We tried to watch episode 1&2 of Lost but we had trouble with the internet connection. We will have to try again tomorrow night. Tomorrow we are going to head toward El Paso where the weather is 20 C. That's all for now!
