After a night spent by the border in Chang Khong, we trevelled to Chang Mai the next morning. Why we hadn't chugged on, and made this journey the previous might is beyond me - sometimes this trip is sobadly organised. YThis also meant we were only getting an afternoon in Chiang Mai too, barely enough time to even see the town itself, yet various activities were advitised on the trip criteria. Nevertheless, no need to get bogged down about it, we enjoyed a typically English afternoon, whivh apart form the heat temporarily transported e back home for the day.
We enjoyed a frappachino in the beautifully air conditioned Starbucks, frequented Boots to stock up on toiletries we had ran out of, and finally enjoyed a lunch of beans on toast at 'The Red Lion' pub. Tacky yes, but I loved it.
That night we boarded our final sleeper train, and chugged along back to Bangkok. The sleeper train was very pleasant, and I enjoyed the best night's sleep I've had in a long time. We awoke early to the hustle and bustle: we were back in Bangkok. We took a taxi back to the hotel we had first arrived at, and looking at it's grand physique, I now feel a little silly having sprayed pesticide on the bed sheets, when in matter of fact, it is one of the nicest hotels we had stayed in. We enjoyed our final day relaxing and by the pool catching some rays.
We went out early for the last supper, as Alex was catching a flight that evening. A delicious Phad Thai was consumed, as were plentiful buckets of alcohol on the streets of Bangkok, yet we were in bed quite early as we had walked Emily home, as she too was flying out that morning.
That morning I felt positively terrible, I ay as well have lived in the bathroom. I was unsure weather to put it down to the food or drink, but when I was still ill for the next couple of days, I knew it was neither. I have been ill for over a month now, but I am almost certain it is because of my malaria tablets, as it is only now, fingers crossed, that I haven't been taking them for a few days, that I can actually keep food down.
That day the remainder of us dispersed and went our seperate ways. Kate flew to Koh Samui to join Emily; Mark checked into another hotel for the night before flying to Ko Tao, and I went to the Immigration Office to try to extend my visa, only successfully managing a seven day extention. Slightly frustrated, I headed back to my new hotel to await the arrival of Lucy and Martin.
