I had the most amazing day! Even though there was no wake up call there is no point in sleeping in and not getting around in this amazing city! With Samir, Umy and Vinny I went to the huge Central Park which is really close to our hotel. It was BEAUTIFUL! You could see over the city and you could spend hours there! After that my friends wanted Togo to Barcelona stadium "camp Nou" which is one of the most amazing stadiums in the world. The excitement they had HAHAHAHA it was incredible! Like kissing the ground, hugging the pillars, and lots of emotions! I tagged along for a stadium tour and museum which was all done in free time and even for someone who only watches soccer sometimes it was magical and surreal! We probably spent about 3 hours there and then me and vin left Samir and Umy who were fixed on a video in the museum!
I have made the most amazing friends ever! VINNY! Far out, best guy ever! A South African-Indian architect who I went shopping with and explored the city with a little more today with coffee stops, door markets, architectural sites and crazy taxi rides!
TRAVEL TIP: try and have change! Far out - I think I even said this in Rome. But some get so angry if you give then notes! We got RIPPED OFF - somehow I ride went from €12.50 to €18.60 in about 2 minutes at the end! Anywho..
When we got into the city people were lining for kilometers down the street and we realised that 12 days after Christmas in Barcelona annually they do a KINGS PARADE! Which is to celebrate the 3 kings who visited Jesus after he was born. Thousands of people flocked and we got a bit stuck in the city. Vinny and I were lucky enough to see a little bit but then we decided to get a taxi it might be a little difficult so left !
We then had to hop back to the hotel for dinner at 8:30 (an earlier sitting) to go to a flamenco show with gaspacho, chicken and creme brûlée! YUM (I am truly gonna put on so much weight!) the dancing and music was truely incredible too! Far out talk about talent!!
Then we headed to a bar which started off just being our contiki but then others joined. It wasn't fantastic but... Pretty good! Then at 1:30 when another club opened we moved on. Beautiful beach front, €30 entry club (which our tour guide got us into for free) HUGE nightclub! It was super exclusive though and for contiki most of us were just keen to dance and chill but the posh, rich locals didn't seem to like us being there! Oh well.
We probably left at about 3am after just chilling and a group went back and chilled in the lobby till about 4:30 until we thought - 10 hour bus ride, wake up in 1.5 hours - BED TIME!
An up and down day but overall memorable and awesome! Gonna miss this heaps!
